Developed by Hanson Robotics, Jules is their latest humanoid creation, which made its official debut at NextFest 2006.
"Jules is something of a complete package with a combination of interesting features. By integrating natural language processing with ASR, TTS, computer vision, artistry, and narrative, you can have a natural, interactive conversation with Jules.
The software allowing Jules such advanced capacity for interaction was developed in collaboration with Personality Forge, Benji Adams, and Heather McKeen. Jules combines the work of writers who author the robots dialogue using chat-bot tools, with natural-language AI (such as LSA statistical search techniques) and word.net to simulate an human conversational intelligence.
Jules also uses computer vision, including face tracking and face recognition, to simulate complete verbal and nonverbal interaction, such as maintaining eye contact and turning to follow fellow conversationalists. Jules now resides at the University of West England in Bristol."
David Fisher has designed a wind-powered rotating skyscraper & what's unbelievable is the claim that the tower can power itself besides ten other similar sized buildings.
Although the technical details of the wind-power system are sketchy, at best, the architect David Fisher, has proposed that towers be built in a new way - basically by stacking platters on a central concrete core, causing a wind turbine between every floor & secondly, rotating floors.
"While the rotating floors have gotten quite a bit of press, really the most amazing claim is that the tower could provide all its own electricity. If true, this design could indeed mean a remarkable and sustainable future for skyscrapers.
Totally awesome! And, as Fisher predicts that the first tower will begin construction in Dubai in the next six months, and is currently talking with the City of Chicago about their own twirling tower, it may not be as far-fetched as it seems."

Merits: "1. The user identification of PC is strengthened, security level of the whole system improves. By the fact that it stops using the password, it removes the essential vulnerability which the password has and it is possible to improve security level. 2. Cost reduction: It is opened from reissue of the password and management of the password, reduction of operational cost is possible. 3. Improvement of convenience: The password is not used and just puts in place the finger use becomes possible." Source
How would it be if you could input text just by looking at the screen of your PC? Professor Arai Kohei of Saga University's Faculty of Science and Engineering has developed this system where the users can input texts by just simply looking an on-screen keyboard. This system is called Mitsumeru Dake in Japanese, which means "Just Look."
So how does this works? "In Professor Arai's system, a miniature camera attached to the computer notes the positions of three points for each eye: the inner corner of the eye, the inner lining of the eyebrow, and the center of the pupil. On the basis of these six positions, the system determines the direction in which the face is turned, and by following the line of sight it recognizes the exact location on the screen that the user is looking at. According to Professor Arai, even people wearing glasses can use the system." Source

Trace Any IP Address & get a satellite picture of the location
Have you ever wanted to know the IP address of anyone? Now you can do that & also get the satellite picture of the location as closer as it can get. Go to 'Start' & 'Run' your command prompt & type 'CMD'. Once you get the command window type 'tracert', give a space & type the name of the IP address you are looking for. Let's take in this case www.yahoo.com. Now tracert will start looking for the IP address starting with your own IP address & goes through all the steps to the final address you have selected. At the end of the list is the IP numbers of the address you are looking for. Write it down, as we will be needing it for getting the satellite image of the location. Open your browser & type www.ip-adress.com, once you get the search box in the said site enter the IP numbers which you have written & click on lookup. Instantly you will be given a map with the IP address location & if you click the big satellite picture, it will actually give a satellite image of the location of the IP address you are looking for.

Microsoft Corp. recently opened a private beta of its new enterprise voice communications server, Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007. The beta testing phase will begin with 2,500 participants. Office Communications Server 2007 will allow companies to integrate VoIP technology into existing telephony infrastructure, further eliminating the need of any overhauls. This new service allows users to launch calls from MS Word, Office Word, Office Outlook, or Office Communicator and it determines their availability and make a person-to-person call. Microsoft's VoIP will use the Session Initiation Protocol to enable presence-based VoIP call management and VoIP communication. According to a recent Gartner Inc., "The ultimate driver of VoIP is not merely cost savings, but business process integration. Enterprises should evaluate their long-term strategy toward developing IP telephony applications beyond basic telephony, including business application integration." According a Reuters report, Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer has predicted that within 10 years, all business communications will be Web-based, meaning hundreds of millions of people will change how they communicate.
