Material used for this furniture is sourced from old office furniture & FSC birch ply. This range of furniture is called 'Strata' by Ryan Frank which a chair, coffee table & dining table.

Another one of Ryan Frank's called Inkuku a unique piece of furniture entirely made from plastic shopping bags. An excellent use of plastic bags, now we know perhaps a better use of these plastic shopping bags!

Interesting Furniture, Part - 2.

Here we have amazing lawn furniture that is actually alive. The Grass armchair is easy to create. All you need is about 240 liters of soil to fill in the frame & plant grass seeds & water slightly. And after few days the grass starts to grow. Once the grass reaches 10cm, all you need do is trim it, & you've got a really impressive Grass armchair.

Here we have one which is created by shaping the tress & this amazing furniture is created by Nirandr Boonnetr, who started shaping trees about 1983. And the best part of these art furniture is its one of a kind.

Peter & Becky have mastered the art what they call Pooktre, which is the shaping of trees as they grow in predetermined designs. And the product we see is amazingly high quality indoor furniture.

An ingenious invention for those with small space -Multi Functional Spinning Wall. The arrangement consists of several revolving modules linked together & as the positioning of the module changes, so does its function. Apart from this, each module's interior would be arranged for a specific room or function, such as a kitchen, bedroom, or exercise room, for instance, while cooking, the couch becomes the ceiling, the dining table a wall.

Boex 3D Creative Solutions designed this award winning 'Pencil Bench' & the seat is made up of 1600 pencils which can be removed & used.

The chair which changes color if you're fat. Pressure sensors in this interactive furniture detect how heavy you are then 'tell' the chair to change color accordingly.



This furniture is the creation of Carl Gromoll who has been doing it for more than 37 years now. His first chair started out to be a form for a bentwood rocking chair while he was a student at the University of Wisconsin- Madison Art Department. He spent about 220 hours making the chair & sold it for $275, it was way back in 1970s.


This furniture is designed by a talented Dutch cabinetmaker.

If you are a book lover & are having short of space in your apartment, then this is an ingenious solution for you - Stairs bookcase.
London-based Levitate Architects who created this states: "creating a new bedroom level and increasing the floor area of the flat by approximately one third." And it turned out to be a perfect the way to access the bedroom & a place to store books. And what more "With a skylight above lighting the staircase, it becomes the perfect place to stop and browse a tome."

The Incredible Bookman is designed by East Anglian artist Kazmierz Szmauz, & can hold about 100 books. It measures 70 inches high by 45 inches wide & is made from Mahogany, although other woods can be used.

This Horse Swing is made from a single decommissioned airplane tire.



Here are some recycled tire bags, which look just perfect created by Mexican designer Metztli Mancilla Hernandez, a.k.a. Mecha. "The concept is to create functional pieces in the form of gardens", she says. "For the furniture, the tires are first collected from the deposits, cut in quarters, cleaned and then re-cut in straps. They are applied to make the furniture, and the rubber is then polished", adds Mecha."

This inviting sofa model was found in a Craigslist ad but later removed, this is how the sofa was described by the owner:

The couch is large: measures 5' 3" long, 3' 3" wide at the middle, and stands 2' 3" tall (and is heavy like a couch). ... A professional upholsterer helped me build the couch, so it is also functional and durable as a piece of furniture. The couch must be picked up in Mendocino, a 3-hour drive north of SF. I am asking for $600 and a loving home!

Beer Can Chair.

How to make a beer can chair?
Step one: Obviously you need lots of beer cans. So you need to drink lots of it before we start this.
Wash all the cans before you stick them or the chair is going to smell in a few weeks.
Done with this, next you will need lots of glue & perspex.
Gluing may be a tiring job & at times there may be a problem when 2 cans are to be stuck at an angle.
One thing should not be forgotten, that it needs large amount of cans & it took about 3 months to complete this.
Though once its done, you may opt for a few rubber pads on the seating area which will provide the grip & cushions on the chair for some comfort.
Now that we got a beer chair anyone interested in making a footstool to accompany the chair?

In a few simple steps Carol Duvall makes this table, which is four feet high, with a circular top four feet wide.

"heavy corrugated cardboard cut to the following dimensions:

Coffee table

There is this coffee table "Chubb" coffee table. "The top is four sheets cross-glued, with the bottom two sheets cut out for the legs. It's stable enough for me to sit on! I designed it to go with the low sofa/futon we bought, but once put together, it reminds me of those traditional chabu-dai (low, portable dining tables for small meals) I used to see on television dramas in Japan".
