Stanislav Katz.

Here we have
Ron Arad's flexible bookshelf that can form unlimited shapes which can be limited only by ones personal creativity.

An interesting
'Equation Bookshelf'.

An
interesting design by
Huting, & the best part of this design is that the modular system enables the user to decide how to install the cables which allows it to be tailor made for any room.

If you are a book lover & are having short of space in your apartment, then this is an ingenious solution for you -
Stairs bookcase.
London-based Levitate Architects who created this states: "creating a new bedroom level and increasing the floor area of the flat by approximately one third." And it turned out to be a perfect the way to access the bedroom & a place to store books. And what more "With a skylight above lighting the staircase, it becomes the perfect place to stop and browse a tome."
The Incredible Bookman is designed by East Anglian artist Kazmierz Szmauz, & can hold about 100 books. It measures 70 inches high by 45 inches wide & is made from Mahogany, although other woods can be used.

Here we have another interesting bookcase by Olivier Peyricot with its
unique design.

Another good
solution for your set of books!

A beautiful use of newspapers by creating a public
installation which highlights the environmental result of yesterday's news by Sumer Erek for Creative City.

Nick creates
paper sculptures using thousands of rolled up newspapers & here is one of his creations.

Here we have yarn from old newspapers by
Greetje van Tiem, that can be woven into carpets, curtains & upholstery.

Here we have laptop bag made from newspaper & it looks really cool!

Here we have recycled newspaper wine
bag,
market bag, &
wallet. When it comes to the bags, you'll always have something to read when you're waiting. Apart from this, as its recycled each will vary & will be one of a kind. That sounds interesting.
Newspaper sculpture.

Another
newspaper sculpture.

City has Batman, Metropolis has Superman and Honolulu has.... Newspaper man."

Origami Art.Here is a collection of the best of what we liked & have collected over a period of time of Origami art.

Here you have real
good galleries, illustrations, news, articles, instructions & lots of links. Joseph Wu's works includes a section of commissioned works used in advertising & illustration.

Massachussetts Institute of Technology's Origami Club -
OrigaMIT. This has some really good work created by its members.

And this comes from the collection of work created at MIT's fourth annual Student Origami Competition.

Here is some more interesting
stuff.

These are
Created by a team of designers, folders & paper engineers for the Folding Australia 2005 Convention. An idea by Darren Scott, which was eventually taken, up as a project & brought into reality by director Matt Gardiner.

Here are some wonderful
models by Origami artist Guspath Go.

Here are some photos of the screens taken by various people at various locations at various points of time, which we don't like to see.

This is from Nashville TN. Does it worry anyone else that airports have such software?

57th Street.

Now you have it on a billboard.

Wi-fi!

At McDonald's Fast food.

ATM too has got it.

Billboard in the Cardiff UK.

Penn Station, on the NYC subway.

Airport!

On television.

CNN Live gets it too.

Relaxed?

A really
cool one which says "Personalize your post." This reminds us of a case study during our masters in business administration. Though it's a very long one, we will give a shorter version of it: What to do during peak hours in a shopping complex which is mainly visited by women & there is rush & queue near the elevator leading to reduction in sales. Some things to be considered: no changes can be made to the building or the structure to increase the number of elevators & all the other stuff. You need to find a solution with the existing model without any expense.
And the solution would be install mirrors on the walls near the elevators, which will give something for the women to be preoccupied with & make the things smoother!

What about this
one?

Don't
think you would like this one?

Playstation 2: Bus stop features
boards with bubble wrap.

The
visuals tell the story.

Perhaps this
ad is using the sense of touch!

"
What will you take home?"

A clever
idea: an outdoor ad, the inner side of the installation is exposed to show the fluorescent tubes that look like lightsabers.
A cool one:"Is invisibility possible? Invent your future with a career in science."

Now this is something that we don't come across very often. Here are a few images of various animals that are in line formation (showing complete discipline) as if they have been trained or rather it looks like they have been ordered to be so. It just looks a perfect setup. Or is it something natural or is it training or is it for ads? Whatever it is, but it just looks cute.

Here is a SUV (the Russian way). This has been
modified & made into a passenger car with much better comfort in setting & driving.
The mechanical gear is replaced with electronic one (connected to electro driven gear box) that makes the switching of the gears as easy as in a video game. The seats are from the Chrysler minivan, which improved the noise insulation & the windows are changed to a more thicker & nicer ones. Apart from these, there is a rear-view camera & the monitor plus a multimedia station with hi-fi audio, video & wireless headphones for passengers.

Here is another one of those, which was modified & made apt to suit his taste. This is an amphibian
vehicle - it can move both on road & swim in rivers or lakes which was bought by a Moscow entrepreneur for his personal use.
A V8 5.5 diesel engine powers this vehicle to carry its multi ton body. Apart from the regular four wheels, it has four more hidden wheels under its bottom which can be used by just press of a button.
To make the things more comfortable, it has a multi speaker sound system, GPS navigation, TV, DVD. Apart from these, it has a periscope, sonar & a night vision system too.

And here a few more of these 'unique' vehicles.
Russian corkscrew
vehicles.

This
truck does look 'special'.

And here is another one of those 'special'

Here is a colorful promotional
package by
The Official Tourism Website of Ministry of Tourism, GOI. What appealed to us is the use of colors in the ads to convey the idea. The concept of using the colors has added beauty & attraction to the whole theme.

Charcoal grey - have a thirty-six-course banquet cooked for you. Shop for over sixty kinds of tulips. Access e-mail round the clock. All without ever setting foot on land.

Mustard yellow - 100% recyclable. 100% self-sufficient. 100% rural tourism.

Maroon - born 563 BC. Enlightened in 528 BC. Great passing in 483 BC. Still lives in millions of hearts. The Enlightened One.

R. Green -all eyes on the world's fastest growing region. After all, one can't help but sit up and notice 130,000 species of flora and fauna, and almost 2 billion acres of forest.

Technicolor.

Tea green - Darjeeling is the champagne of teas, grown high in the valleys where the world's smallest train does its rounds. Assam is known for its full-bodied flavor, as robust as the one-horned rhino that roams in its plains. In Munnar, you could even get a taste of a planter's life in sprawling bungalows, British-era clubs with tennis, golf, bridge and of course high tea.

Water colors - 232 lakes. 273 rivers. 7,517 km of coastline. Incredible. Choose your color.
And here are a few more of the print ads:

Here are some of the most interesting & creative advertisements using escalators. Given the choice to choose the best of these which one would you pick!

To
advertise the wide variety of hairstyle options available at Juice Salon, the picture of a man up till his forehead was pasted on the one end of the escalator & a different hairstyle on each of its steps.
This was used by Pizza Kingdom to advertise their new product with extra cheese. The escalator in front of the restaurant was used & when the customer steps on the escalator, they are sent to Pizza Kingdom.

Pixar & Disney Studios
elected to spread to the world about upcoming children's movies with Aap!Rails in cinemas.
To display the long-lasting ability of Stabilo highlighters, pens were installed at the beginning of escalators throughout Hong Kong. As the steps continually moved forwards, the pen appeared to create the bright yellow safety marks on the side of the steps - non-stop from morning to night.

Here Pantene
beautifully uses the space between two escalators to convey what's said in their slogan: "silky touch irresistibly smooth."
As the steps of the escalator keep moving, one can see various happy faces!

Haribo Rotella Wheels Liquorice: Sweet escalator -
impressive.

This is pretty
clever of Duracell - "Keep going, going & going".
Easy to comb - Head & Shoulders.

Beautiful use of
escalator by HP Photosmart. Gives the impression of non-stop printing.
Think of this: "America would have 50% less electricity if our coal miners didn't make this trip every day. Consol Energy. America's On Switch".
This is an image of the Hyundai Santa Fe & Tuscan models that go up the rough terrain on the escalators in Istanbul's Ataköy Atrium Shopping Mall.

Space in Singapore is a
premium, which makes consumer goods' companies to come up with more & more innovative ideas to use up every square inch to promote their products. And this is an escalator tunnel leading to the subway trains, fully prepared for a Pepsi promotion
And there are some
more:

If kids aren't supposed to behave like kids, then whom are they supposed to behave like? They are full of energy, vigor, & love. At times when they are a bit more than their usual, then for most of the parents it becomes difficult to keep up with them at their pace. Whatever they do, still the parents are willing to do anything for them? After all they are our bundle of joy, tiny stars of our eyes, just for one smile & hug of theirs we can go to any extent to get them what they want. As these are the years they are with us & as the time passes they are going to get busy in their own lives & may be most of them will get too busy making their dreams come true, & in the process we may not be playing any significant role. Least that's what we do, whenever its possible by us, we try to make the best of the time available to us by trying to play with our son.

Smart girl, knows to get what she wants & gets it too.
Cute kids.
Perhaps time for recourse on table manner!

This gives a very good reason why kids aren't supposed to run around with sharp objects.
Now its only the dog who knows for sure what happened!

We have seen '
Creative Business Cards' & now we have 'Interesting Business Cards' for you.

This one actually folds into a miniature Nissan Skyline car.

Embossed metal one with quite a look.

What you got to say about this one? Absolutely brilliant?

Refreshing & quite interesting.

Very beautiful, but wont fit in a regular wallet. Apart from that, it has company's logo embossed on it, which might make people not wanting to open to see your business details, to keep the logo intact.

Amazing, something on line with a cinema ticket.

Perhaps it helps you to plan things as per one's budget!

Well this one does lots of talk: it has a brochure, portfolio, video, vision ……..

This one is one of those which we liked.

This is much more of the techi type than creative.

Wow! How about this one?

Those apples look so appealing.

This is the one which we liked the most: "why do you blog? To make money you ……." Something that you obviously aren't supposed to ask a blogger or else be prepared.

This one does stand up for itself.

Now doesn't it remind you of a processor!

Quite a mix with clothing sale tags, rivet & the designer's 2 cents. Although a smart idea.

Now when you are a 'creative director' your business needs to speak for itself.

Now who took a bite out of this?

Cool look.

When you are a 'lead designer' perhaps you should let your card do the talking part.

Tag!

This one does make a point.

Graphic designer - how can less be expected here.

Anyone good with symbol reading.

Now this is what you call 'liberated'.

Business card that sprouts, a miniature garden when dipped in water.

Another one of the metal card.

1. Design Interior: Optical Illusions In Reality:.jpg)
.jpg)
Here
optical illusions are integrated in interior designs. Its really quite a nice idea to do this. The visitors who aren't standing in the proper angle won't have a clue about the concept. They wont be able to make out what these lines & curves on the walls are for. This way you can choose whom to share this little secret with.
2. Illusions Of Faces:
If you watch the above images from your seat in front of the computer, Mr. Angry is on the left, and Mrs. Calm is on the right. Get up from your seat, & move back. They switch places! This illusion was
created by Dr. Aude Oliva & Philippe G. Schyns, MIT.

Here is another piece of work created by Dr. Aude Oliva (Ph.D. Brain and Cognitive Sciences, MIT) & Dr. Antonio Torralba (Ph.D. Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory). Again if you watch the above images while seated in front of the computer, you might think that these people are not happy. Now get up from your seat & walk a few paces & you will be astonished to see the change in their expressions. Both the images are a great piece of work & we think none others were able to generate anything this similar in Photoshop.
3. Elevator Floor Illusion:

There is a sign at the entrance telling everyone who goes in, about the work in progress in the elevator. Actually, the floor of this elevator has been painted with an illusion to make people feel there is no floor.
4. Shadow Illusions.

A series of shadow
illusions from Panther House shows that sometimes what the eye perceives is not the entire truth.
5. Optical Illusion With Trucks.
.jpg)
Trucks
painted with optical illusion art.
6. Cool Magazine Illusions..jpg)
Though it looks simple how these illusions are been created; what matters the most is the angling & the idea, which changes the whole perception of a regular photo into an amazing illusion just by using simple things. And if you look carefully at the amazing details being taken care of for creating these illusions, you will notice the face shapes of the people & the actual magazine covers are also been matched.
7. Anamorphic Illusion Of Cardiff Bay.
Swiss artist Felice Varini & his team created this anamorphic
illusion of three ellipses for 3 Locks at Cardiff Bay, UK. era.
8. Matchbox Illusion..JPG)
These match boxes & now these cards can be viewed upside down or right side up or may be the other way around, either way a face appears. Noses become forehead creases, mustaches become sweet little curls on a girl's head.
9. Illusion With Bus.

This
bus was specially painted with an ad for television program of National Geographic Channel. Here the artists have shown their talent beautifully by using the doors of the bus. When the person enters & the doors are closed, it looks as if the shark has opened its mouth & the guy is secured in its tummy.
10. Cool Counter Illusions.
Interesting counter illusions, which no doubt will confuse anyone at the first glance.
11. Face Illusions Around Us.
Has this ever happened to you!
12. Illusion With Money.

Illusions created using
banknotes.

These
super sized engines are used to power supertankers & other huge vessels. These are generally over four stories high & have pistons larger than some of the small cars.
To save time & fuel cost (as it takes a ton to restart these engine) they are run continuously. And for the same reasons they do have the access into the cylinder walls so for overhauling the workers can get inside the engine while it is running. And to keep it safe they take one cylinder offline while keeping the other 5 to 13 cylinders running.

And here is another of those but comparatively a smaller one, slow-speed diesel engine that has only 56 cm cylinder bore.
