Project Storyboard.

Project Storyboard.

Dutch designer J Van Hoof exhibited a wall made of books at the Design Academy Eindhoven graduation show as part of Dutch Design Week in the first week of November. Hoof has summed up this project beautifully: most of us have lots of books and the collection of which keeps growing. And as the collection keeps growing you need to make a choice as to which one will get a place on the bookshelf (unless you have huge bookshelves or got a library of your own in your mansion) and the rest have to go in a box on the attic. And as the time goes by and the collection keeps growing, you again need to make a choice as to what gets a nice place in the box on the attic and where the rest of the collection has to go.
And here is where Hoof's project storyboard gives a new dimension to the reuse of books: 'Books like this tell us a lot of stories, the story in the book, the story of the book itself as a product what you own with a history and the story as a collection of books. Usually these books are made to new paper and all of this is lost, but with my project storyboard I tried to give the books, with all the stories in it, a new life as a new material.'
