How Would You Handle This!

Just think of it, can you handle this happening around you once every four-five years? These are the photos taken by Sven Sandberg during the summer of 2005 in Flogsta/Hamberg, a district in Uppsala, about 60 km north of Stockholm, Sweden.
It seems this sort of a thing happens once every four-five years here, though it appears every summer in more moderate quantities. As it's a big colony, which means in the long run there wont be enough food for most of them, the population is kind of self-controlled.
Its looking like these things have a special liking for the bikes. For us it's looking like something from the classic Sci-Fi movie, silk like substance everywhere.
