Ice & Snow Sculptures

These ice & snow sculptures were created for International Ice & Snow festival held in Harbin.

The annual Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival has been held since 1963. Officially, the festival starts from January 5th and lasts one month. However often the exhibitions open earlier and last longer, weather permitting. Ice sculpture decoration ranges from the modern technology of lasers to traditional ice lanterns. There are ice lantern park touring activities held in many parks in the city. The Harbin festival is one of the world's four largest ice and snow festivals, along with Japan's Sapporo Snow Festival, Canada's Quebec City Winter Carnival, and Norway's Ski Festival.

cardboard coffee tableThere is this coffee table "Chubb" coffee table. "The top is four sheets cross-glued, with the bottom two sheets cut out for the legs. It's stable enough for me to sit on! I designed it to go with the low sofa/futon we bought, but once put together, it reminds me of those traditional chabu-dai (low, portable dining tables for small meals) I used to see on television dramas in Japan".

Metro Stations.

Who says metro stations or subways had to be uninteresting? If you thought so, have a look at these stations!

Petersburg Metro, "it all started with eight stations : from "Square uprising" to "Avtovo", which to this day is one of the most beautiful stations. Today CAF subway consists of 59 working stations connected four lines. In addition to these 59 stations has one built but unused station ( "Admiralty"), and a number of stations (fifth line), the construction of which started, but now hardly any".

Car Art On Roadsides.

We can't think of a single day without the use of automobiles, as it's an integral part of our lives. These cars have even become an indicator of our status symbol.
Many a times we have seen them adorned with artwork, but this is something which we are going to love where the cars itself are used to create this unique form of art on roadsides.

Magnificent Horses

These photos are just beautiful & what is to be said about the horses? They are just magnificent in their looks, elegant in their walk, and graceful in their stride. It's really a hard task to decide which is better, the photos or the horses or is it the combination of these two, which is making all the difference.

Hole Punch Art.

hole+punched+1.jpg

hole+punched+2.jpg
Take a look at this unique form of art created by Steven Nicholson studying Graphic communications with typography at Plymouth University in the United Kingdom.

How about if you laser cut the holes instead of printing them?
He states, "using a laser cutter won't have the same effect and a uniform sequence of holes will look too mechanical".

Swastika In A Pine Forest

Swastika
This photo of 60 x 60 meter swastika that consisted of Larch trees in a Pine forest near the village of Zernikow (110 km Northeast of Berlin) was taken on November 14, 2000.

"It was only visible from the air a few weeks in the Spring and a few weeks in the Fall when Larch trees stood out in contract to the surrounding Pine trees.

These trees were planted in the 1930's by a local resident during Nazi times. They were largely forgotten until after the German reunification in 1992 when planes once again flew over the area.

Local forestry officials cut down 25 of the Larch trees after this photo appeared in several German tabloids".
