Can this be used for all cars? I do know it did work for my Honda but i doubt that it works for all cars.

9.9 I predict a lot more missing cars.

Or you could carry a spare key around instead of a tennis ball.

It won't work with every lock/car but it's worth a try to find out if it works on yours, so you know if it will work in a pinch.

Or someone is activating the key ?

You do realize that you just gave people a way to break into cars that isn't theres.

This is old hat. We were doing this when I was a teenager (15 odd years ago!).

It only works on cars with vacuum based lock systems, which are few and far between nowadays...

I was wondering if they could've shown a reference to how big the hold needed to be? :o

Neat, but I could do without that obnoxious music.

Ace,

lets hope that the kids at the youth center do not come across this trick or that it is not a wide spread issue among a number of car brands/models

Your car has problems.....I'd suggest getting a new cylinder for the lock....

Or, you could just keep a spare key in your purse.

It just worked for me. Toyota Camry. It took about 10 tries.

What if you locked yourself inside the car and can't reach the outside key hole?

Anonymous said...

"What if you locked yourself inside the car....."

Please tell me that wasn't a seroius question? If you lock yourself inside the car then your already on the INSIDE!!!! you just have to reach over and lift the lock!!!!

If you lock your tennis ball in the car, use your keys to get it out.

This may help you get in, but if it's a fairly recent car with an immobilizer system the car isn't going anywhere.

Why not just keep a spare key in your purse...

Notice the car has a dent around the lock. Not trying it on my truck.

Anonymous said...

just tried it on my xterra and it did work.

It's true she really looks innocent...

Anonymous said...

With my luck I'd lock myself IN the car and my tennis ball would be in my garage.

Anonymous said...

just put the tennis ball on your antenna, no need to carry it!

Anonymous said...

$5 says someone else unlocked the car electronically while she was pushing the tennis ball against it.

I used to do that 12-15 years ago on cars in england with central locking its not new and its not unique.I used half a tennis ball with the cut edge coated in butter or vaseline for a better vaccuum seal.

This works like .001% of the time. It's easier to call a locksmith than try this.
