According to Blog census the most used language is English followed by others. Here is some statistical data: "English: 1958443, Too_short: 284749, Catalan: 123320, French: 83950, Spanish: 80509, Portuguese: 71561, German: 35870, Italian: 26659.

So how many blogs are from which countries?
Here are the approx figures : "Australia: 450,000, Austria: 20,000,
Canada: 700,000,France: 3.5 million, Germany: 300,000, India: 100,000, U.S: 30-50 million, U.K: 2.5 million, Spain: 1.5 million, Spain: 1.5 million, South Korea: 20 million".

So how many people read blogs?
Here it is: "39% of net users (about 57 million American) read blogs -- a significant increase since the fall of 2005. And 8% of net users (about 12 million American adu1ts) keep a blog."

Most importantly why people abandon their blogs?
According to a Perseus study, "over 132,000 blogs are abandoned after a year of constant updating. The average duration of the remaining 1.63 million abandoned blogs was 126 days (almost four months). 25 percent of all new blogs are what the researchers call "one-day wonders." Common reasons for abandonment include simple boredom, lack of feedback and readers, busy with other activities and cannot spend time on blog".
